Is "Different" working on Radio 2 for you? |

"Radio 2 - Where Egos Fly!"
"Radio 2 Drivetime: The Ego Has Landed!"
"Radio 2: Where Different Works"? Nah - nobody will ever believe it based on recent performance. |

Lesley Clueless clearly does!
"Humphrey Lyttleton has taken semi-retirement, so I thought I would Toilet Duck up the weekday evening schedules."
Why use poor old Humph as your pawn piece in case things go wrong? |

I'm sure Humph is touched at your concern. But how is he being treated as a "pawn piece" in your rather fanciful referernce? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I might have known you wouldn't understand, Ernie. Clearly you were asleep when Lesley Douglas made the changes to Radio 2's evening output last April...or probably too busy listening to loudmouth on Drivel Time. |

Not much for people who like Trance or Hip Hop. Plenty for the challenged-of-mind who like egotistical rentagobs. |

If Radio 2 is "something for everyone" then why is there now decent rock show on there? Also, I want to hear a show that plays nothing but Edwardian music. |

There's the occasional Masters of Rock, but you're right, no proper rock show on a regular basis. Trouble is, how would r2 do it differently to much of classic rock etc's output?
As for the Different works campaign, if they'd thought of 2 different talents other than Brand n Evans for their marketing, to prove the 'difference' factor, then it'd look slightly more credible. considering they were already being heavily advertised on the radio, a little change in tv ads would have been nice. |

A rock show on a Friday night in place of the grinning idiot (Matthew Wright) or on a Saturday night in place of the man in drag (Russell Brand) would be ideal. The show could feature a range of new and classic rock music, plus indie and heavy metal.
This kind of show would work extremely well on Radio 2 seeing as the audience age group has changed these last few years.
What would you prefer on a Friday or Saturday night? A decent rock show or a talentless, egotistic celebrity (that Radio 2 seems full of these days)? |

A decent classic rock show, in place of Brand, on a Saturday evening or on Saturday morning, in place of "Wossy" would be great. Some ELP, Yes, Stones, Steve Earle, Queen, Clapton, Eagles, Alice Cooper, Dire Straits, Deep Purple, etc would go down a treat with me, however, Planet Rock do it so well, I can listen any time I can get to a DAB radio, so who cares? Certainly LD does not, IMHO.

I don't have a problem with Matthew Wright's show myself, though I don't understand why they got rid of Fiona Bruce or Mariella Frostrup (both from when the Friday night arts show was called The Green Room) unless,of course they wanted to go for some reason.
Yes, I would certainly like to see a permanent rock show in place of either Brand or Wossy. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I think Mariella Frostrup was axed. As for Fiona Bruce, she's got other commitments with her TV work.
Matthew Wright - I like him in small doses. |

Matthew Wright has proven to be quite good on Drivetime in the past but most of the time he seems to go into a giggly, silly mode. Clearly why he's got a slot on Radio 2 amongst the other celebrities on there with the same pathetic qualities. |

Scott when did Matthew Wright ever do Drivetime? I always listened until the middle of April 2006 and can't ever recall him presenting.
He did the SW show a few times though.

Helen,
He did deputise in the past in the Johnnie Walker era. Also had at least one go on Richard Allinson's old midweek late night show. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |
