So is the pollution getting worse in Beijing or should the Americans arrived with Masks over their mouths
378 MCG Of pollution in Beijing was recorded by ITV News. Where in London we should have 50 MCG.
Apart from that problem who is looking forward to watching the Games? Repeated or Live during the day? |

Double yawn! The amount of BBC coverage is nothing short of scandalous. How many people have gone there on a jolly at our expense? _________________ MiS |

I'm appalled by the amount of overkill by the BBC, in terms of cover during the event and advance hype.

To be fair, the BBC have always covered what is after all the world's premier sporting event comprehensively, and very well, and I don't think this time is going to be any different. I just think it a shame that they no longer have someone of the calibre of Frank Bough or Desmond Lynam, at his peak, to anchor it all. _________________ Ron |

I guess the smog will stop any hijacked aircraft being flown into the stadium. |

True? What is true? Mark you are talking garbage unless you tell us what is true
Sarah Brightman, I should say to the astonished gathering here, may not really be regarded as a super-star in Britain now, but by golly she IS an international star now. They love her in USA. Her album Symphony is a huge hit internationally. She opened last year's world athletics competition. |

Congratulations go to Rebecca Adlington for her gold medal in the Women's 400m freestyle, our first swimming gold for 48 years (for women). I liked the commentator's remark "She's won it by a mile" - seven hundredths of a second!
Shame that her parents weren't able to be there to see her - they were the victims of an internet ticket scam. I'll warrant that we were the only country who didn't ensure that tickets for our competitors' immediate family were made easily and reliably available.
Earlier, there was the gold for Nicole Cooke in the cycling road race - our first gold medal in that event.
On the down side, our world-ranked No 6 player Andy Murray has crashed out of the tennis at the first attempt, and our pairing in the 10m Synchro Diving event fell out with one another and came last. _________________ Ron |

I've noticed several cases of the Union Jack being held or displayed upside down! it's not good enough...
But, the ultimate outrage was tonight watching some stupid cartoon about the Silver Medal white water rapid thingy winner landing on the moon and even the BBC had the Union flag the wrong way up!
it's a disgrace you BBC bods... or maybe it's a signal of distress. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Interesting comment on Jeremy's show this morning as to why we're not seeing thousands of cars driving around with Union Jacks flying as we would have done if we were doing miserably in some boring football event...
Apparently, we're doing really well in terms of medals but where's the support from the public as the caller said?
Even I, with no interest in sport whatsoever, got a little choked as the three girls and rowers received their medals with the National Anthem playing as the Flag was hoisted...
This country needs more news of achievement and success promoting national pride rather than the dross we hear about everyday. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I had to laugh this morning when the bronze medal winner of the windsurfing, Briony Shaw (?) was interviewed. She was laughing and crying all at once and just kept saying "I am so happy" "I really am SO happy" and then, to the embarassment of the interviewer "I am just SO f***ing happy!"
Thank God she didn't get a gold then |
