A belated Happy Birthday, Ruddles. And you're probably down the pub now, so you won't see this till tomorrow. |

I wonder how many listeners have asked Steve Wright to play Modern Love by Peter Gabriel on Sunday Love Songs today? By the way, much thanks to Phil Jupitus in 'Good Morning Nantwich' for his thoughts on the 'Prince From Snow White' rule where certain acts are concerned!
Belated birthday wishes also to Steve Hackett also - Spectral Mornings drowned out the usual Midsomer Forgone Conclusion from my side of the sofa last night! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Yesterday ( March 2) would have been Karen Carpenter's 61st birthday.
She left us a fabulous legacy. _________________ MiS |

Becky: I too loved The Searchers, they never did a bad song as I mentioned after that Cavern programme.
What Have They Done To The Rain is possibly my favourite, and a rare thing in those days: an environmental protest song (I assume). |

You're right,Schizoid... ....taken from the web....
It was written in 1962 and first entitled "Rain Song". It was written as part of a campaign to stop nuclear testing in the atmosphere, which was producing fall-out. |

Happy Birthday to the one and only Johnnie Walker whose birthday is apparently today
I'm not sure of his exact age but I guess he might be 66 as from reading his autobiography I seem to remember he is almost exactly ten years older than me
A great servant to music over many years _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

It's tomorrow, 30th March, that Johnnie celebrates his 65th birthday along with Eric Clapton who was born on the very same day in 1945!

Yes, that's correct. In fact once, many years ago, I remember Eric Clapton announcing the fact at one of his gigs which he played on his birthday!
PS: Johnnie is still closely involved with Radio Caroline, doncha know it! |

Thanks for the information Helen, sorry I got it wrong

I have an interview somewhere here conducted by Johnnie Walker with Eric Clapton to mark their 60th birthdays. It was a great chat, interspersed with excellent music (as you'd expect). |

Easy mistake Ruddles, I had to double check it but I didn't think it was the day after my O/Hs which was yesterday!
I vaguely remember Johnnie doing a show with Eric around the time they both would have been 60 or am I just dreaming it?

I gather it's the birthday of that evergreen entertainer Rolf Harris today
He's still wearing really well for his age

He was mentioned on Caroline yesterday Helen as having helped them out in some way but I'm not sure exactly how and Roger Day was mentioned at the same time
I've been listening to Caroline most afternoons this week and I have to say it's really good
Shame I can't listen when I'm out and about in the car _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Apparently the dreaded Ms Feltz is 50 years old today
I wouldn't normally have bothered mentioning it as I just can't stick the woman but I had to smile whilst listening to Mark Goodier a few moments ago when he quipped:
'As she's supposed to be the Queen of daytime TV I think as a celebration we'll set up several rows of vegetables surrounding a prize turnip in the middle'
How very appropriate that would be _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Really Santa - I thought people only got a bus pass at normal retirement age which in the case of men is currently 65
There again I suppose they might have brought the age forward because of a legal challenge on sex discrimination grounds _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

You've now to wait until you get your pension if you are a woman. A neighbour was telling me a few months ago that she had expected to get hers at 60 but has to wait a year+ as they have delayed the pension age. I don't know what it is for men though.

His keyboards on House Of The Rising Sun was what made it such a good song. He also came out with some catchy stuff like The House That Jack Built.
Very clever man. |

Just had a very scary moment - it's the birthday of Bob Dylan today and Mark Goodier claimed he was 61 - hells teeth, that's only four years older than me
Just checked on line to discover that he's actually 71 today - phew, what a relief - he just seems to have been around for ever - mind you some people say that about me _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

It beggars belief that Mark Goodier could have thought that Bob Dylan was only 61. Even if he was given that information by a useless overpaid 'researcher' surely he should have questioned it. Dylan had his first chart sucess in around 1964/5 with The Times They Are A Changing and Blowing In The Wind, not bad for a 13 year old.
And as for writing the seminal Like A Rolling Stone in 1965, well, the 14 year old song writer was even more of a genius that I thought he was!
Where do the BBC get these people from? |

I think it was just a slip of the tongue on his part - he does know a fair bit about music as he owns Wise Buddha Productions _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
