I personally think Elaine Page is ideal for the Drivetime slot. In fact, there's not many people who I don't think are ideal for the slot.

In fact, there's only one. What's his name?

Elaine Paige is only good for one thing - the sack (and I don't mean in bed).

Stuart Maconie for Drivetime thank you very much!

Although I'm Parky's number one fan, I have to say that although I'm very sad that he's leaving Radio Douglas FM the slot is eminently suitable for POTP. Good idea!

I think Pick of the Flops would be excellent in place of Parky. The only problem is Elaine Paige. She makes Sunday lunchtimes on Radio 2 sound hideous!

Perhaps "The Best of Piss Evans" on Sundays, 1.00 - 3.00pm?

Surely that would only last from 1.00pm until 1.01 pm?

No! Sunday lunchtimes with Piss Evans would last for 2 hours! Danny Baker, Gazza, Davina McCall, Amy Lame, Lesley Douglas, and finally, Ronnie Corbet would entertain us live from the pub! Then from 3pm, it would be HM the Queen's Speech with Graham Norton.

What odds would you give me if I were to suggest that Richard and Judy might be the replacement for Parkinson on Sunday's.

Why? Is Radio 2 that desperate?

Chris has the book reading audience sewn up already with his show.

Those with a reading age of what, exactly? Pretty low, obviously.

I heard that the sale of Roald Dahl and Ladybird books were on the up. Now I know why.

Just listening to Parky, sad to think there aren't many more of them left.

Make the most of them while you can.

I agree with you Helen. The BBC manages to prize away yet another keystone in its structure.

Integrity makes way for banality. Perhaps that, as mere "consumers" of media rather than listeners and viewers, we're not expected to think any more - as exemplified by the likes of Evans at Drivetime. It can only get worse.

Lesley Douglas hasn't got long now until Parky leaves. I wonder why she hasn't yet announced his replacement? Perhaps she can't find anyone suitable (yet)?

Well she hasn't on any slot so far has she.

Parky's show was excellent this morning as usual. Who on earth could replace him? Sad

What about Russell Davies?

I think you're right, Scott. She can't - and won't - find a decent enough replacement!

Good show this morning, too.

It won't be Russell Davies. He's still pissed off with the way he was "relegated" to Sunday nights last January. I remember Russell saying this a few weeks after he was moved to Sunday nights:

"I have decided to drop the weekly competition. There doesn't seem much point to it now I've been relegated to Sunday nights."

As for Alan Titchmarsh, no thanks. It's bad enough he's on Radio 2. He's the least who deserves promotion.

Chris Tarrant would handle a good Sunday Supplement on Radio 2. So would Eddie Mair, John Inverdale and Fi Glover. So many acceptable choices to succeed Michael Parkinson. I daresay Lesley Douglas will replace him with yet another celebrity loudmouth - or even allocate the slot to Chris Evans!

Just think: Steve Wright and Chris Evans on 6-days-a-week! Razz

p.s. I think Danny Baker would be ideal on Sunday mornings!

7.00am Good Morning Sunday
9.00 Chris Tarran't Sunday Supplement
11.00 Danny Baker
2.00pm Pick of the Pops
4.00 Johnnie Walker
6.00 Elaine Paige
7.00 Alan Titchmarsh
8.30 - midnight as now

Alan Titchmarsh's accent doesn't bother me; his smug attitude does, though. I have seen his ITV1 chat show. The word trailer trash springs to mind.

He should stick to what he is good at - gardening. By the way, his documentaries on Britain were very good.
