Well... Zoe talks a lot of rubbish, always drops names, and insists on the simple "text & e-mail subject" but I did enjoy her stint. She's good company. |

I don't think she talks rubbish. Yes Ian, Zoe is a name dropper. Still good broadcaster. |

I suppose she kind of grew on me a little as the week wore on, but I'll be glad to have Ken back. He makes me smile. _________________ MiS |

It will be good to get Ken back next week
It was just like 2 weeks of old radio one drivel, non-stop wittering and texting. |

Old radio one used to have the good old letter writer without texts and emails. |

Technically you are probably right, but it's the same old rubbish. |

Zoe kept saying things like 'Here's a song by Yusuf.' Was this name dropping (ie, dropping 'Islam') or is this his new singular name? It can't be BBC policy not to say Islam can it? |

No - it's of his own choosing. His "stage name" is "Yusuf". _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Completely understandable he wants to spend time with his kids in school hols - just a shame we can't have a better class of replacement. _________________ MiS |

Last time she was on I revised my opinion of her. She seemed less "laddish" and I could see why she was far too sensible to be suitable for Radio 1 any more, (being forced to listen to the calibre on that wavelength whilst at the gym.) Not that being too sensible for Radio 1 automatically makes one eminently suitable for Radio 2, of course!
But this morning she seems to have reverted to type, all gabble, all witter, inane email topics.
I'm off to the gym. _________________ Minx

Yes, there am I, trying to have (a-hmmm) a leisurely bath (jokes about beached whales and depth charges on a postcard...) and she's whipping up a storm with her sixteen-to-the-dozen chatter.
Perhaps there's something in the pigment of that bit of Lego she's swallowed...
Slow down, girl!
Got Bobbi to talk about her circus life, though.
As for the best name in the world... Begins with R, of course! _________________ Ron |

Slow down indeed. I don't find her as irritating as I used to, but I do wish she would speak a little more slowly and be a bit less excitable. _________________ MiS |

I'm still a bit bemused that Zoe doesn't self-op. Given the amount of radio work that she's done (and the amount that she does for Radio 2), I would have thought that she was perfectly capable of working the kit herself.

I laughed when she was telling Jeremy about her dream about Gordon Brown. Apparently, she was chatting to the Prime Minister not about politics, but about her family and seemed a bit puzzled by this. It's because her husband, kids, and their famous mates are all she goes on about! |

I did hear that one. She didn't dream about Tony Blair. She only passionate about her family and life. |

Ken off for two weeks. Jim Kerr does Tracks of his years for the first week and Malcolm MacDonald the next. |

I think you'll find the choice of music is down to his producer. Anyway I beg to differ about the music. Won't be listening to Zoe, hurry back Ken! _________________ MiS |

Have to say have caught some parts of the Bruce Show this past week-the music I heard was poor.
Looking forward to Zoe-the music played when she is the chair will be definitely better.
Don't rush back Ken-Zoe is an excellent presenter and will do a great job in your absence. |

It'll be no different while Gary Bones is still in the producer's chair - remember, he was Richard Allinson's producer and he's playing the exact same stuff! |

Not at all.
Suggest you check your facts.
For what it is worth Richard chooses ALL his music for any show he is involved with regardless of the producer he is working with. |

He's probably more experienced and qualified to choose appropriate music for his show than half the career-producers at BBC radio anyhow! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Some years ago I asked Richard about who chooses the records on any show he is involved with whilst working on the BBC.
He confirmed in writing to me that he comes up with the suggested running order in the first place and then he sits down with the relevant producer to go through his suggestions together.
It confirms you point Colby-Richard is more than capable of choosing the songs to be played based on his knowledge etc. |

My mistake. Must be mere coincidence that Ken's playlist changed overnight when Gary Bones took over from Ken Phillips after Richard lost his Saturday slot - and that the music is exactly the same, even down to the "long song!" |
