Well look, I'm no fan of the Ginger Germ but it's a great idea if it fumigates the station of any lingering infestation of the dreadful Dawn Patrol. Let's hope that Alex is extended also, so's to spare us another celebrity zero being recruited.
They can make CE's show 6 hours long for all I care, daytime Radio 2 is a dead zone to me. |

How depressing. Thank goodness for Radio 4!

I'd prefer his show to start much earlier say 4am and finish by about 7.30am
Can't see it happening though
I' ll be listening to Smooth breakfast from Monday |

It's one way of manipulating the audience figures, I suppose. |
And maybe trying to compete with Smooth's new presenters?

Great news on the Chris Evans early start.
Perhaps by the time I tune in he will have finished explaining why this is a really special day. It's usually because Bert and Alice from Grimsby have been married for fourteen and a bit years, or because Percy from Stourport is starting a new paper-round. All gripping stuff, guaranteed to put a spring in your step. |

I know this will send a lot of people's head into a cataclysm but surely this means that Janice Long & Alex Lester will be extended to soak up the dawn patrol slot. 6.30's my new wake-up time, and I had hoped I would be able to hear some of Alex but I guess Chris will just follow me. Oh well... |

Well that explains why Alex hasn't moved into the EB/DP slot - they're doing away with it.
Unless there are more changes afoot which The Sun isn't privvy to, the schedule looks untidy. Couldn't Ken also have been persuaded to do an extra half hour, so that there are even three-hour shows? _________________ Ron |

Must try out this Smooth Radio. At the moment I am tuned to Heart..and its as crap as radio 2 for breakfast.
The longer CE is on..... the audience will be bigger, but they dont say how long that audience tune in for.........most likely not for the whole programme _________________ I like hedgehog crisps |

Depends what you want at Breakfast. Smooth is even more bland than Heart. Heart still has an element of local input at that time.
The PA and Radio Today have confirmed tThe Sun's report. _________________ Ron |

How fortunate for the BBC that those pesky Radio2 Message Boards aren't still up and running!
It just means I'll not be listening for longer. _________________ "There are more of us now......that makes us right" |

I wonder how many less hits the website is getting since the closure?
I had a look at the Facebook page, it hardly seems to be getting any posts at all.

I suspect they've felt somewhat redundant John. I don't think there are more than a handful of posts on any of the discussions or on the other pages either.

Chris Moyles starts at 6.30am. I'am not surprised about this move. I did say about this some time ago. Yes it will mean Early Breakfast will be no more and Lynn Parsons will not be taking over the show. Chris does always seem to mention he's up usually hours before breakfast starts, so I guess this won't make any difference. I'am amazed they havn't got him to start at 6am and Ken at 9am. |

Interesting that non of this is being reported by the BBC: there's nothing about this at the BBC Press Office - so there must be a leak, it's all been made-up or something more sinsiter is going on. |

It was on the 2pm Radio 2 news Rachel. May have been on earlier but that was the first time I heard it announced on air.

They might as well rename it Radio Evans, or Evans Radio!
I hope they give Janice her hour back and extend Alex. If they do I'll at least be able to listen until 6.30am.

Oh right thanks Colin, we are in DAB no go zone here! What chance have I got to listen to anything on an ordinary radio that's half way decent please? _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Very little, I'm afraid to say. We're living in a world of de-regulated radio that's controlled by commercial interests who want to give listeners "what they want"! (Hence Smooth, Heart, Capital coast-to-cast, etc).
Never mind, as soon as WiFi bandwidth (and speed) increases we'll be able to access web-based programming much more easily wherever we are. My iPhone's ready and waiting! |

Still, The Sun is not the place for the BBC to do its business- using the PA after the event is just weak-minded face saving- a panic reaction to the leak. If I were there, heads would roll. As far as I’m aware, "Radio 2" does not have the autonomy to make BBC Press Releases. |

I'm proud to be able to declare that I've never watched the Friday edition and never will for as long as that hyped-up creep is co-presenting it. |
