Nah, not the entire daytime schedule. It was only 2 minutes extra this morning - that's in the margin of error on a lot of clocks |

It's the thin end of t' wedge, Rach. 2 Minutes here, a few more there - soon it'll be Radio Evans, and given his ubiquity elsewhare, EBC _________________ MiS |

I think you've just made that up.....
You could hear the annoyance in Kens voice, the handover was almost embarrassing, I'm sure he would of much rather said 'Now just **** off!' |

Yes, but it is (and always has been) an unwritten rule between presenters that they stick to their timings. I wouldn't have been happy if I were Kenny The Bruce. I get the impression that he's not that endeared to Evans anyhow so it doesn't help things. |

At eleven minutes past seven this morning, Chris Evans, said, "Rock and Roll"- he said it in a rock and roll kind of way, at bit 60s pirate DJ, a bit... well: naff really- I'm still laughing now- it just popped out, sort of unexpectedly.....It remided me of the "I've had better" line from Liar Liar- I've had better.... doh! If this makes any sense to you- come to my Christmas Party- if it doesn't, don't... |

Chris has been working on both his Radio 2 show and The One Show this week. The One Show finishes today 17th December for the festive break. |

Good, because I'm sick of seeing his silly face or hearing his stupid hyperventilating voice every time I switch on. It's bad enough having to avoid that appalling radio show of his, but then having to avoid a TV show at 7.00pm each evening this week has been an even bigger pain.
What on earth is the reason for the BBC's obsession with this idiot? He's a total knob. |

He's cropping up all over the place. The corporation is determined to make us all love him and I just cannot fathom why. Something's going on... Will he made DG soon? |

I put The One Show on the other night as I wanted to see and hear Jean Marsh. Fat chance - she barely got a word in. She looked appalled and embarrassed by the behaviour and lunatic remarks of the host. Will the BBC ever learn? _________________ MiS |

What I don't understand is why the rest of the production team put up with it? Unlike Adrian Chiles, who displayed an endearingly self-depracatory quality which worked very well when he co-hosted the show, Evans automatically assumes a right to the limelight. He hogs the camera, talks over people, talks loudly and gives the clear impression that he really is not interested in what others are saying. He has to be the one doing the talking.
His co-presenter appears on the face of it to be happy with the relationship but if you look carefully you can see that she's not happy at all. He ALWAYS over-rides her and when she's talking he gets impatient to the point where he simply has to butt in.
And why does he gabble so loudly? He is so unprofessional - and the fact that BBC management insist on foisting him on us at every opportunity is, in my opinion, very patronising. |

There's always been an edge to Evans. I rarely detect any genuine warmth in what he says or in his dealings with other people and there is an aggression that immediately surfaces if he is challenged. When you add an unattractive character to a broken volume control, it's best avoided. |

Because she is too young (no idea who half of the guests are), has absolutely no authority, cannot hold a conversation and is difficult to understand at the best of times.
Did Evans have something to do with the selection process? aware that at no time would she ever challenge him.

Absolutely, I got quite nostalgic for the One Show of old when I caught the old crew on ITV the other morning.
Since 05, Evans has destroyed R2 Saturday afternoons, cast Johnny Walker into the wilderness, turned the R2 breakfast show into Tiswas on the radio, and not happy with that he has ruined the One Show, all with the BBC's blessing.
Like yourself Colin I cannot for the life of me work out why he is held in such high esteem, a guy who took the p*s* out of the corporation and was unemployable. He must have some very incriminating pictures in his possession! |

They call it. " I've learnt by my mistakes, and have now grown up" They also call it " We will give him a second chance". I couldn't see him drinking himself silly again, going into work P****d upto the eye balls, or missing work due to the falling down water, or seen in papers falling out of pubs. He owns one. Maybe people should leave him alone and let him get on with it. |

No they don't. They call it "You've been doing breakfast for nearly a year now, Chris, and your show is as trivial and annoying as it was to begin with. When will you ever learn that you're a complete knob?".

Don't tell me to calm down. And it's not personal, either. I don't care about Chris Evans - it's the BBC I'm displeased with for promoting this idiot to the extent that they are.
And you don't need to apply a red colour to your text, either! It's silly. |

Colin, Why keep going on about him and saying nasty vindictive words? I think you've expressed your feeling about the BBC, and we all now know you don't like Chris Evans. People will see it personal. At the end of the day 'Chris Evans isn't going away'. So unless you listen or watch him, he's not really a problem in your or anyones life. |

Trouble is, he turns up everywhere without warning so it's hard to avoid him.. maybe TV should carry alerts for the faint of heart.

Because he's an irritating creep!
mark occomore wrote: | I think you've expressed your feeling about the BBC, and we all now know you don't like Chris Evans. People will see it personal. |
How can it be "personal" if I don't know him and he doesn't know me? I'm just absolutely fed up with the fact that he's everywhere on the BBC, that's all. It's an issue with the BBC and not him personally - I think that's pretty obvious, to be honest - so I don't know why you're banging on about it being personal.
mark occomore wrote: | At the end of the day 'Chris Evans isn't going away'. So unless you listen or watch him, he's not really a problem in your or anyones life. |
Who says "he isn't going away"? If he carries on being such a prat he's going to turn people off quickly (hopefully).
OK, Mark, so you think the guy is the best thing since sliced bread. Unfortunately, as far as this forum is concerned, you're actually in the minority! What does that tell you?
Anyhow, Chris Evans is a creep. There, I've said it again. I feel better now! |

Many of us on this forum feel exactly the same way as Colin
Its just that there's no point in other people repeating the contents of Colin's posts when there's nothing further to say
As Colin rightly points out the fault is really on the part of the BBC but it is very hard not to get annoyed when hearing the irritating ginger idiot almost everywhere and seeing his ugly mug popping up when you are least expecting it _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Rubbish. I'm not a broadcaster who has muscled my way into the limelight by any devious means at my disposal despite dubious talent. And if I were an accomplished broadcaster, I wouldn't embarrass myself with a childish and banal broadcasting systel in the way that that infuriating idiot does.

It isn't that far removed from an Orwellian scenario now. We look on the giant telescreen and see the face of Big Brother telling us that we all love him. Substitute Big Brother for Evans' silly mush and Orwell's future has become the present.

Are you sure that works? Colin
"Evans is Talent" would fit with the other three surely- I'm not venturing an opinion of course just pointing out the flaw in the logic.
It's Christmas! - I spent yesterday helping to feed homeless people. We had Alex Lester and then Chris Evans on the Iplayer- not one of the homeless people complained about Chris Evans, although one guy - Dave, did say- that first guy was a bit bonkers. |

No attempt at logic. I just tacked that last bit on because it felt right to me at the time. But, then again, you probably guessed that!!!

Nobody complained about Evans? I suppose it really would be case of biting the hand that feeds you, etc., so I can understand their reluctance to complain. I probably wouldn't under the circumstances. More soup please..... |

Mark, we have Rule 2 on this forum, so postings are watched carefully with that in mind.
I'm happy that folks offer negative opinion, even repetitive opinion, but only if there is explanation or justification for any of their negative comments.
Most negative comments I see aimed at Chris Evans come with informed opinion, the posters generally explain well what they find wrong, what has particularly irritated them or casued them to switch off, Radio 2 or BBC1. _________________ -

Thank you, John. Moreover, it's not Evans at whom most criticism is aimed - it's the short-sighted and seemingly incompetent BBC management for allowing the situation to continue where a disproportionate amount of programming and promotional resources are directed at one personality, particularly since the latter is a person of dubious talent.
My rationale, in this context, is that we are - by virtue of our membership of this forum - a group of people whose collective aim is to preserve what we feel to be the best qualities of the Radio 2 network. With that in mind, it's quite reasonable to voice our concerns - especially when it's likely that our posts are getting read by some of those who work within the corporation. |
